I have created a project and want to save it to a CD. However, when I try to
save it the wizard dialog box is all squished where you choose how to save it
and in what size. I can read it and complete it but some of the sentences
sit on top of each other. I continue going through the wizard and the screen
appears to show my progress. However, this is where my progress stops. It
either lets me know that I have 26 million minutes remaining or it shows no
time remaining at all but remains at 0%. I need to show this movie at a
meeting tomorrow night and I desperately need help!

Hello,

This assumes you are talking about Movie Maker

The ONLY format that it can save to a CD is HIGHMAT VIDEO...this format is only
usable on a computer having the right software...it will not play on any DVD
player currently available

If you are trying to use the SAVE MOVIE FILE to create a WMV or DV-AVI file
that would normally be saved to your hard drive, but instead you are trying to
save it to a CD, it wont work...save to hard drive first.

Do you have your screen set to use LARGE fonts on a screen size less than 1024
x 760 something or other? That will screw up dialog boxes...it does with most
of them if you DO have the right screen size anyway...a lot of programs still
today do not use correctly the anchor points that are available to them
sometimes with the effect you describe.

There are a number of reasons for what you finally describe...its often
referred to as the Can't save a movie problem. There are one or two things you
can do...convert any JPeg to Bitmap, convert any MP3 to WAV or WMA, Convert any
MPeg to AVI.

If you have not done so you should download the full versions of DirectX 9.0c,
Version 9 Codecs and Windows Media Player (9 or 10) Its important that you do
not use the install over the internet option....install them in the order
previously mentioned and reboot twice between each install (Removes file locks
etc) You should do this even if you are happy saying...I did all that..its
OK...there is a good chance it is not OK.

After that, if you are still no further forward then install Service Pack 2. A
very tedious thing but it is the next logical step, and if you are no further
forward, do come back and say so.
