Saving 11GB DV-AVI file to DVD

I saved my project as a DV-AVI (NTSC) file on my hard drive. It's a huge
file (11GB) and I'm wondering whether that size causes a problem when burning
it to a DVD-R which only has about 4.7GB capacity. I'm using MyDVD to do the
burning. I assume there will be some compression going on but I'm not sure -
I'm a novice at this. Are there any other alternatives under "Other
Settings" that are recommended for saving the file for burning to a DVD
compatible with most home DVD players?
Thx.

The 11gb really won't matter much.
It is the length that makes a difference more than anything (insert
distasteful joke here).
As far as settings you commented in the other thread that you have an older
version of MyDVD so I am not sure of the settings on anything older than
Version 5.??

It’s a 60 minute video. So are you saying that burning the 11GB DV-AVI file
to the standard DVD will not cause a problem? One of the settings on MyDVD
(version 5) that may influence the burning is the Transcoding speed. It’s a
slider that spans from “Faster Transcodong†to “Best Quality†with only three
settings – fast, medium, and best. Its default setting was set to medium.

jd,

you normally can fit around 60 minutes (approx 13gb) on a DVD. I have v4.5
and I've put close to an hour with plenty of room to spare so I think I might
be able to get more than an hour. just import movie (or get movie as MyDVD
terms it). There should be a graphic on the bottom left of your DVD project
that tells you how much of the 4.7 will be left after DVD creation. So you
can see if it fits before you burn.
