Saved Document problem (changed to all squares)?

I have a word 2000 saved doc on the network. It was fine 1 day ago. Today when I opened it, all I see is squares? The
properties look ok, but it is now corrupted. I've been trying all day to find an answer.
Any help is appreciated.

I am having the same problems. The Word program will now
not open. Prior it was not saving docuemnts. Let me know
if someone finds an answer for your problem.

Make sure that the File Open dialog doesn't say Files of type = "Recover
Text"
 
See the KB article "WD2002: Unexpected Characters Are Added to Your
Document" at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329366. Although this article
is for Word 2002, I think it might have the explanation for your Word 2000
problem as well.
