Someone built me a web page using front page, then I got ny own front page so
I can continue to edit the pages as I need to. So I didn't do any of the
orignal publishing, I jut add pages and edit pages now.
So a few questions are bothering me:
When I edit the pages, I go to the actual web page on line, and choose
"edit with FP" and FP opens. I edit, then choose save as , and it seems to
save it online properly. This has been working well for me, and I have added
pages, photo galleries, and neat stuff.
BUT I can't see where it has saved it anywhere else? Is my whole web page
only saved on the server it was originally saved to? Shouldn't I have it on
my computer somewhere for safety?
And, that being said, if it was on my computer, couldn't I edit offline and
upload it somehow later?
I thought I figured out that I could save the whole file on my computer by
doing "publish to" and inputing my c drive there.....but that isn't changing
the original location, right? That would be like in a word processor when you
choose save as, it still keeps the original, right?
And if I do edit offline, then what file command do I use to then put that
page online?
Thanks

The answer to some of your questions is "Publish"

Open the website in FrontPage and use File->Publish Site (or
File->Publish Web, depending on version of FrontPage) then type in the
location of a folder on your PC, for example:
C:\websites\myweb (this folder must exist)

FrontPage will convert the folder to a website, and copy your existing
site to that folder.

Now you can open that folder in FrontPage (File->Open Site or
File->Open Web and type in or browse to the folder) and edit offline.
When finished, File->Publish Site and publish back to the internet
location.

Other comments are interspersed with your questions below.

This is not 100% reliable - it sometimes fails to open the website and
only opens the page from your cache. You should use File->open Site
from the FrontPage menu.

Yes, and Yes. It's saved on the internet server, and you have no backup
(unless your host provides a backup service, which may be costly if you
ever need it).

Yes - see above

I thought I figured out that I could save the whole file on my computer by

No - the original is not changed. It is making a *copy* of the website
on your own computer

That would be like in a word processor when you

Right

And if I do edit offline, then what file command do I use to then put that

Same again - File->Publish Site
