"Save target as" is diabled

I cannot download and save a video file from the internet. The "save target as" is shaded and diabled. Also, if I right-click on a video clip, then click on "properties", the clip is recognized as a photo or HTML file-not a video file. I have tried everything I know of to fix this problem short of diving into the regisrty. I'm afraid to go to the regisrty. By the way, I'm running XP Pro, browsing with IE Please help!!
