save resent document

This is still gobbledegook. Please explain what you mean.

Explain it here in the BIG WHITE SPACE and not compressed into gobbledegook
in the message title.

Your advise does not work. I can not retain the recent douc.

I can't do gobbledegook. Your suggestion does not work -
 
I assume that since you mention the Office button, you are using Office
2007. That being the case, click on Word Options in the bottom border when
you click on the Office button and then on Advanced and in the Display
section of the dialog, set the number of documents that you want to be
displayed in the box beside "Show this number of Recent Documents:"
