Well, I've been searching for the answer to this question and there doesn't
seem to be one. so this must fall under the category of feature requests.
First of all, really like a lot of the new features in 2007, bevels,
embossing, customized gradients - great! Won't talk about what I don't like,
as that would take too long (don't get me started) and it's not the point of
this post.
One of the things I'm not crazy about is the inability to save a gradient I
create. To be perfectly honest, I can't recall any time I've used one of the
default gradients that come with Powerpoint and I was so happy to see that I
could finally make my own that are more than 2 colours. 10 stops isn't quite
enough to get a really great gold, but it's better than none at all.
However, once I've got it, there's no way to save it for future use. Sure,
it stays in memory for a while and I can use the format painter to apply it
to another shape, but what I would really like is to be able to save it, like
I can do in Illustrator (as a swatch) or Photoshop (as a layer style. or a
gradient) so that 2 months down the road, when I'm doing another awards show,
it's right there to be used, instead of having to find files from the
previous job to copy and paste shapes into the new file so I can apply the
effect I want.
Also, having the ability to repeat/reflect the gradient would be sweet.
