"Save As" window won't accept my name

I save my questions on the notepad, and when I get to the "save as " window I'm told "QUESTIONS" (OR ANY CHOISE OF WORDS) is not an acceptable name and have to name it a number such as "1". When I try to rename it on the desktop,(I can't have a desktop full of numbers) I'm told" if you proceed the file may become unusable. Are you sure you want to change it?". I chose to rename and it changed from a notepad to a file and I had to fill the circle that said "choose from a list", and pick notepad to view my page. This is too much and is a new development. I've always had the unaccepted name problem in the "save" window, but I could allways rename them on my desktop.

That's very strange. I'm not sure I understand you completly, but it might
help if you renamed the file to whatever you want ending with ".txt"

Well I'm not sure what you were trying to save the file as in the first
instance, but when you save from notepad make sure the file type is of type
text and the file extension is set to .txt. Make sure the new file has a
different name to any other in the save location.
The "become unusable" error.... You're getting it because you have renamed
the file but also changed or deleted the file extension (eg .txt, .exe)
Windows uses these extensions to work out which default program to use to
open the file when you double click on it.
Make sure you are viewing all file extensions by going to folder options in
control panel, select the view tab and "uncheck" the "Hide Extensons for
Known File types".
