I'm on a PC with PP 2002. I saved for the first time to a web format and it took a small 450 KB ppt file and turned it into a huge 7.5 MB mht file

Is this normal? It seems a bit extreme to me. The file has 19 slides all text, no animation but 18 seperate embeded mp3 narration files.

Tbrox,

Sounds normal.

Your 450kb ppt file does not have the mp3 files embedded in it (they're linked)

The mht file probably includes the sounds files...hence the bigger files size

Thanks.

FYI, I changed the default for embeded or linked files to 300 KB so all my mp3 files would be embeded instead of linked.

Sorry, but your MP3 files will always be linked. The only multimedia files
that are included in a PPT file are WAV files, even if you change the size.

Hello,

PowerPoint does not include the ability to embed (not link) multimedia
formats other than *.WAV audio files. Because of this, your MP3 files are
linked (not embedded)

If you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly that the option
to embed other kinds of multimedia should be a built-in feature in
PowerPoint, don't forget to send your suggestion (in YOUR OWN WORDS,
please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
