"The Macro can not be found or has been disable because
of your security setting."

I get this message when attempt to "Save As" a document
in Word 2003.

My security settings are set at Medium. Although the
message points to a help file with a list of options,
either they don't apply, or I can't make head nor hair of
any of them.

Anyone have a quick fix on how to make 2003 save like
previous versions without my having to call in Homeland
Security to save a letter on my own computer?

Hi drobie

This is not the way Word 2003 is supposed to work!

It sounds like the File > Save As command has been intercepted by a
macro at some stage. If you've only just installed Word 2003, then maybe
a macro that is supposed to be invoked has gone missing.

If you are in a corporate environment, the most likely cause is a
document management system that isn't playing nicely with the new Word
2003. If that's the case, you are unlikely to be able to solve the
problem yourself. Contact your IT department.

If you're managing this machine, try the following.

In Word, Tools > Options > File Locations. Note down the folder that is
given at User Templates. You may have to click the down arrow to get the
full path name.

Exit Word. In Windows Explorer, go and find the folder you noted down.
Find normal.dot in that folder and rename it to oldnormal.dot. Now,
start Word again. Word will create a new normal.dot when it starts.

Does it work properly now? If so, use Tools > Templates and Add-Ins >
Organizer to copy any customizations (eg toolbars, macros, autotexts)
from oldnormal.dot to your new normal.dot. But ... don't copy any macros
that you don't personally know about!

Hope this helps. Post back if you still have problems.
