Uninstalling unused programmes (Registry Mechanic, Skybot, Ad-Adware SE) has
meant that I cannot access my C hard drive via the Save As dialogue box.
Is it likely I have uninstalled more than I intended and how can I recover
the situation??
I have to admit I discovered my computer recovery system was switched off!!

Saving programs from within certain applications was one of the procedures
that was corrupted as a result of a bad Windows Update recently.

Check the links in the following information to see if this behavior is what
you are experiencing.

"Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install
security update MS06-015".
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

This is a result of a bug in the MS06-015 security update. Here is the
automated fix.

Go to the following website:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Click the link on line 383 (right hand side). This will download the HP's
Share to web software-fix file.

Double click the downloaded file to run. This will automatically fix the
problems caused by the Security Update MS06-015 as detailed in

Special kudos to MVP Kelly Theriot for automating this fix.

Ronnie,
Worked a treat, thank you. Even more pleasing to know that MS were the cause
and not my big fat fingers.
