Can someone explain why most games don't respect the My Documents folder
and put their savegames there?

It's up to the company making the game to decide where they want to
store savegames. They are in no way forced to or required to place
savegames in the My Documents folder.

In that case I think all games should have allowed the customers to
choose a save-game folder...

I agree. I get seriously annoyed as several hundred megabytes of saved
games gets transferred between my machine as the Documents folder gets
synchronized.

Several megabytes? Then some of your games are abuse the My DOucments
folder, possibly storing caches...

Thus the new "Saved Games" folder, which I think is a great idea. PC is
finally starting to work like a console. And we thought the PC would get rid
of all consoles. Silly us.

Actually I could care less where my saves go as long as I can find them,
which I usually can. Did you know Wil Wright's save file for Spore is less
than 6k bytes? 10,000+ planets with various creatures and stuff, and the
save file is less than my last novel.

(Rumor, but it came from a play tester friend)
