sata without floppy

I intended to build a new system with sata HD but no floppy (haven't use
floppy for years). The mobo I go for support raid, which I don't need.
Reading the manual, mentioned raid/ahci installation require copying a
driver to floppy and use it when installing windows (after pressing F6). So
my question:
- do I need floppy to install xp or vista on a sata HD?
- do I need ahci if I only have one sata and do not need raid? If the answer
is yes, must I use floppy for the installation?

if it does need a Sata driver form conventional 1 drive operation, and you
do not have a floppy,

make up a slipstream OS CD and include the SATA drivers

have you tried installig it to see what happens?

thing is asking the question is easy,,, getting experience is better.

try it then report your findings for others to use.

just in case you cant be bothered trying... you can install xp or vista onto
a sata based pc with no floppy....

i done it hundreds of times...... and guess what, i didnt ask first i jumped
straight in with both feet.

If you are using Vista and the SATA controller isn't suported, you can
put the drivers on a USB key and it'll read that.

If you're not using RAID, you can set the SATA controller to operate in
IDE emulation mode. Doing that, you'll not need to install any drivers.
If you want to switch it back to SATA mode, install the drivers for the
SATA controller once you've got Windows up and running BUT DO THIS
BEFORE ACTIVATING IT.
