I have a western digital raptor 74gig conected to a Abit A-17
motherboard and was told that the 2 were not compatible, is this true
and could it explain the sudden death of my computer with a blue screen
saying that a module has stopped responding or shut down and to reboot
if that fails check any new hardware.

Seems impossible,ABIT runs intel SATA/RAID controllers, all will run the
raptor. Is the raptor installed with xp on it,was it formatted thru xp cd,or
wdc utility, did you use the F6 function.....Have you set the BIOS for SATA,
by default its not enabled..

Thank you for your replies, yes I asked WD and got know repley,
everything is set as it should be and as far as I know there should be
no problems but when I was told my hard drive is sata2 and my
motherboard only supports sata1 I thought I would check and find out. (
didn't know there was 2 type's of sata)
