Today my SATA RAID array started acting up. Funny thing about it - it all
appears to be functioning except when I check it with HDDTune, for example,
it shows that it is cycling between maybe 5 mb/sec (or less) to 70 mb/sec.
It is not a perfect sinusoidal wave but certainly has the general shape.
Performance of xp pro is terrible since this started.

It may be a drive problem but I am wondering if I have a m/b problem. Anyone
seen anything like this and/or have any suggestions to diagnose which it is?

Thanks.

I had a problem with mirror raid on A78NX dlux v2 Sil3112 controller.
Certain apps suddenly wouldn't run, Eventually found a prob with one of the
sata hd's. It was replaced, however the mirror was incomplete. i.e. 2 months
data was missing. Fortunately I have off site backups.
At no point were any problems indicated by mirror monitoring utility.
Asus acknowledged that there had been a problem with earlier bios, which I
did'nt have.
I would suggest that you check your hd manu site for a drive checking
utility.
If you use mirror, disconnect a drive see if that helps, then try the other.
If you have a none mirror raid, ensure your backups are upto date!
