Calling Reefsmoka.... come in Reefsmoka...

Am I right in thinking you bought a SATA drive a while ago, then canned it because the installation was too much of a pain? Well as it's Christmas, and I like to be hard on myself, and beat the wife into giving me my Hitachi desktar 250GB drive early. Mainly on the basis that I might have it working by xmas day.

I am going to plug it in tonight, and switch on, booting from my XP installation disk and see what happens.....

Anyone care to comment/advise/laugh/slag off/ whatever......

S-ATA drives are a Piece of P*ss!

You dont tend to even need to do anything differently now... the XP installation CD's with SP2 on automatically install the right drivers so you dont need to faff around with a floppy disk or anything...

There is usually *NO* different between an IDE and a SATA installation.

Worst case? You will need press F6 as the windows installation starts, put in the motherboard floppy disk, if you dont have that you can download from asus.co.tw and put on one, then select the controller, press enter and from then on its the same as it usually is.
