SATA HDD on jetway polaris DDR400 mobo

hi,

wonder if anyone can help. Im in the proccess of building a new comp
and could do with some advice. I've got a jetway polaris DDR400 mobo
and within the specs for the board it says Serial ATA controller. Does
this mean I can fit a SATA HDD, if so do i need to purchase any cables
etc. There seem to be IDE conectors aswell??? im not really sure what
to buy, although i've read the SATA HDD are pretty good.

any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can attach a Serial ATA hard-drive, at least one of them directly
to the motherboard.

Yes, you'll need thin, flat Serial ATA cables, like these:

In addition, you'll need a power cable converter. One that converts your
standard 4-pin molex plug from your power supply, to the special type needed
to power the hard-drive, like this one:

Yes, that just means you have a Serial ATA controller, as well as a standard
IDE controller. Like-wise, you'll have plugs on your motherboard for
devices on each controller. So you have two controllers for devices. I
personally would go for the Serial ATA hard-drives.
