How can I instal the drivers for SATA when there's no a:drive on my
computer. During the WXP instal setup ask for pushing F6 to instal the
non-microsoft (SCSI) drivers for the SATA on the A8N5X. I have to put these
files on an ancient 3,5 inch floppy, they ask!

It's true, if you want to install the operating system on a hard drive
connected to that controller your going to need to have a floppy drive.
All we can do is hope they come up with something different in Vista.

Thats right you need to use a floppy. You can download the SATA drives and
slipstream them into an XP installation disk - just Google for it. I keep
a floppy drive at hand for XP re-installs but do not have permanantly
connected.

I'm going to try to slipstream or just use an ancient 3,5

There's no way around, in that approach. You HAVE to use a Floppy drive.
The alternative is to buy a current OEM version of XP with SP2. This CD
includes the SATA drivers you need, and do a fresh install.

you absolutely DO NOT need a floppy drive. Like I said, slipstreaming sata
drivers works great. Even on a pirated CD. You can even integrate you
motherboard drivers as well and if you have a SP1 winXP, take the
opportunity to add SP2.

Frank is absolutly right, slipstreaming will work. But for most users
slipstreaming is a little over there heads. It's not really that hard
to do, I slipstreamed SP-2 into my original WinXP SP-1 disk. I just
wish the instructions I used included the part on adding these
controller drivers. I now plan on doing it again and adding the needed
drivers for my Promise controller and my ICH5R RIAD driver.
