Perchance the manufacturer?
A new drive should include the driver on a floppy.

I bought the motherboard last year and it seems no floppy disk came with it.
I cannot remember how did I install XP last year and how to make the SATA
driver myself.
May be there is a driver folder inside the CD with motherboard.

You'd be needing a/the driver for the SATA controller, not the SATA hd..Either
way,a single SATA hd usually doesnt require a driver for the F6 option, only
SATA
in a RAID
configuration.Read:http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-010695.htm
But if you have intel controllers,& you want the drivers,go to intel, dow
nloads,chipset software,application accelerator for RAID,get the floppy
drivers &
install to a MS-DOS formatted floppy...

Alan......you sure seem to be having a bitch of a time.
The Mobo CD has the SATA drivers that you need to place on a Floppy....and
during the install XP asks you to push F6 if you need to install scssi or
other drivers....at which point you push F6 and place the floppy in the
drive ...later during the install XP will search that floppy and only the
floppy for those SATA drivers.
As I am typing this to you I am installing XP onto a friends computer on a
SATA drive.............

Hi,
What if I have 3 SATA harddisks? They are not in RAID.
I just put each harddisk on different SATA port/channel.

You need to read your motherboard manual, either the one supplied with your
kit, or the one avilable on their site, for the exact requirements of using
sata drives & whether its neccessary to instal sata raid drivers from floppy
via the F6 option during winxp setup
The drivers are avilable form your motherboard site. It may be neccessary to
install the drivers even if you do not use raid

My Mother board manual says I need to use a floppy if I am using XP SP4 or
less. (I thought there were only 2 service packs, but anyway..) I don't
have a floppy drive and have XP w/SP1. Do I need to buy a floppy drive and
some floppys??

There has to be some other option - I bought this sata drive because it is
newer and better, not because I wanted to live in the stone age with useless
floppy drives :)

The only way you can install the SATA drivers is from the floppy provided.
It may be a stone age item but so is fire and we still use it.

External USB floppy drive will work.

I am trying to get my usb floppy to work now - it will not. This is the
first time I have plugged it in in the 3-4 years I have owned it Not sure if
this is a mo-bo problem or not. Too late to figure it out now. I also have
learned of something called slipstreaming - not sure what it is, but I will
check it out.
