To all the experts, I need your help.

I have P4 3GHz, 1GB RAM, 300GB SATA Drive.
HaveWinXP SP2 installed on the drive (primary drive 40GB).

Every once in a while (2-3 times a week), my computer reboots without any
reason and when the bios is tring to detect the drive (right after the
reboot) it tells me that the SATA is not connected (No SATA connected ...) in
boot time.

Only when I power off and on the PC, then the drive is visible again and the
windows is working.

Anyone knows what may cause the problem?
Can it be defective drive?

Thanks.

Sounds like you have a bad or to small power supply. That is without further
testing of coarse. It could be a RAM problem, A overheating of many areas
and so forth. Start by evaluating the powder source first.

Also if that SATA drive is getting to hot and shutting down maybe it is not
being detected again until it is cooler. It may not spin up in time if still
hot .Can you try it with the case off and see if the frequency of
occurrences changes?
