Hello All,

I just installed Win2000 with all service packs on my newly built P4
system and I have huge problem. The hard drive access is horribly slow.

the 300 GB SATA drive from Seagate is functioning only on PIO mode and
i am seeing an average speed of 1.2 Mb/s this is horrible...I made sure
of the following.

1. All BIOS settings are correct
2. have the latest drivers from MB maker.
3. Device Manager says " use DMA if available" on all the IDE channles.

Please suggest where i go from here..

thanks
Anil

I'd check the drive controller or mobo manufacturer's web site for an
updated driver. Also look for tech docs on their web site related to serial
ATA used with that drive controller.

SATA != IDE. What are the device manager settings for the SATA channel?
Please suggest where i go from here..

Call Seagate tech support. Although its not in the manuals, TS has a
toll-free number. 800 732 4283.

Thanks Dave and Rich,

I have all the latest Drivers

I meant IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers listed in my device manager. I don't
see anything for SATA specifically.

Called 1-800-SEAGATE but they kept me on hold for an hour!!!...have to
call back and follow up.

If i find a solution, i will post it here.

regards
Anil
