SATA board - accept IDE HD as well ?

Hvae a normal SATA board with 2 optical drives on the IDE

Plugged one out to connect an old IDE HD just to have a look

board not seeing it at all - is there some obvious type of thing
i might have forgotten ?

Most likely the jumpering isnt correct for the config.

If its not that, try with just the HD on the ribbon cable.
 
Going to try the same thing myself. Goit two SATA drives going to add
another IDE drive 60 gigs soon old rive.

If you have a empty IDE plug just plug it in that and you can have the
dive master or slave as it will be the only drive on that cable if not
you will have to adjuct the jumpers.

I think you might have a cd or dvd burner as master and your drive as
master as well. Switch the other device to slave and all will work.
