I notice that the HDD LED will not work with SATA drives. Is this a
common problem? Can anything be done about it? No mention on the MSI
site.

MSI K7N2 Delta
Seagate 120Gb SATA
Maxtor 250Gb SATA

BTW LED checked and working ok

This is a mb-bios problem. If you have the si3112 it is discussed at
the Silicone Image site.

The first mb I bought with this controller said tye didn't support it,
and it didn't work. The next one also said no, but after installing
Win2K it worked?

Cheers Phil, but it's a Promise PDC 20376 S-ATA Raid device on the MSI
K7N2 Delta motherboard

No updates or news on the MSI or Promise site, although I've seen a
few posts on the net similar to my problem.

Jack, was having the same problem on a different board until last night.
reversed the hd led at the motherboard for grins and it started working.
Cant hurt to try.

Jon

Thanks Jon.

Just heard back from MSI. Apparently, it's a fault with the Promise
SATA controller and there is no fix. So if you're thinking of buying
an MSI mb with only SATA drives, beware the HDD LED will not work!
A small thing but useful to know.
