Use F8 during boot up to bring up alternate startup menu and select Last Known Good
Configuration to see if that works. If not your best bet will be to reinstall your
operating system. If your file system is fat32, you can boot from a bootable floppy
and copy your data to another drive. Otherwise with ntfs you will need to slave that
hard drive in another computer running W2K/XP [that has up to date virus protection]
to access and back up your data. Unless it was a tool to remove a virus, installing a
vulnerability patch will not help an already infected computer. Make sure you do not
connect your computer to the internet without firewall protection. --- Steve
