HELP! I was able to patch all of my servers with KB835732
except 2. Both fail to apply patch, the following entry
in the event viewer:

Windows 2000 KB835732 installation failed.
Access is denied.

There should be a log file created by 835732. Please look at this log and
see where we are getting denied access.

I had a case on this issue, where it was actually trying to write to the
following registry key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Works\6.0\Calendar

We deleted the whole registry key and we were able to proceed with the
installation of KB835732 : HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Works\6.0
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Works\7.0

Please download and run Regmon & Filemon from( www.sysinternals.com) , and
then execute the KB835732 installation, this should tell you where you are
getting access denied.

REGMON did the job. I suggest anyone getting "access
denied" errors while trying to do 835732 download REGMON
from the below mentioned site and run it while attempting
to do the install. It will identify the exact key you
need to correct permissions on. Then do the following:

Click Start, click Run, and then type regedt32 to start
Registry Editor.
Locate, and then click the registry key or keys that you
noted from the regmon log file.
Click Permissions on the Security menu.
In the Permissions box, click the user account that you
use to install the service pack.
Under Permissions for User, click to select the Full
Control check box.
Repeat these steps for each registry key you noted from
the regmon log file.
Install the service pack again.
