Sapphire 9600 and back screens with Cat 3.6

Anyone figure a way around black screens when using Cat 3.6? Sapphire
says I need to wait on 3.7 for the fix and use the Cat 3.4 for now.
Also what about this BIOS? Safe to use?

Sapphire says it a known bug with some systems. install drivers
reboot, get spalsh screen, then a black screen.
