Recently I purcahsed a SanDisk 8-in-1 Reader which supposedly supports
USB2.0 hubs.

However, On my Windows XP system, I cannot for the life of me get it
to be recognized in any of my USB2.0 slots. It works just fine under
USB 1.1. I suspect that the problem is related to lack of a particular
driver but nowhere in any of the documentation that came with the
devices does SanDisk say that a USB2.0 driver is required for Windows
XP which I find very odd.

I have to wait until Monday when the Sandisk technical support offices
re-open but does anyone have any ideas in the meantime? Potentially
someone may have run into the same problem?

The reader model is the ImageMate SDDR-88.

Thanks.

I just bought the same reader and it works great with win 2000 in both the
onboard 1.1 plugs and in the 2.0 add-on card. No new drivers were
necessary.

Same here. Works in my system that has only USB2 built into the motherboard
(Intel 875PBZ). No drivers required.

Aloke/Larry, I think that's my mystery. Every other USB2.0 device that I
have works under USB 2.0. The computer even tells me it's a USB2.0 device
when I Connect it into a USB1.1. port!!!

Larry, I believe that your link is for those folks who have not installed
Service Pack 1. What I didn't make clear in my e-mail is that I have.

Thanks for the post though.

That article says that installing SP1 is not enough. You either

a) have a system with XPSP1 installed from the getgo (like by an OEM
reseller or if you bought a new XPSP1 CD and installed a brand new
installation from there) or

b) if you installed SP1 after the fact, you have to go through the steps in
the article to make XP "re-discover" the new drivers.

Her'es a whacky mystery for you. After I confirmed that the device worked
just fine with USB 1.1, I unhooked it and connected it back to my USB2.0
Hub. It worked fine after that.

I have no idea what the heck happened!
