Hi Folks:
I bought my Brother one of these chip-drives for Christmas. He
hasn't played with it since last night. I put some pictures on it he
asked me to scan. I put it in my Macintosh, copy the scanned pictures
to it, and gave it back. To put it in Mac terms, it doesn't 'mount' in
XP. It mentions something about operating in the slower mode, but it's
not in the list of drives under 'my computer'.
It does work at the command prompt! I copied all the pictures to
his hard drive, and they open fine in XP. It's his drive 'G' in DOS
(if you can call it that). He's running XP, but I'm not positive it's
NOT an Upgrade He has a 1 gig machine he bought from Staples or
something. HP I think. Thanks for any pointers

I bought 3 of those 256 Cruzer units from CDW recently that proved to
be counterfeit. They exhibited some strange symptoms, some
directories wouldn't copy, format errors, etc. One way to tell is
they come up as a terabyte in its properties.

I bought two "Pocket Drive, Model No: GFR202SD" which reads SD chips.
It works on my son's Windows XP; however on my PC Windows XP will no
reconize that I have it plugged into the USB port. (Green light come
on the Pocket Drive when inserted.)

Something must be wrong with My XP. Any suggestions

Hi Montierth:
Is your Windows XP an upgrade from 98 or ME? I think my Brother
is using an upgrade because his computer came with alot of customized
drivers for his computer. That CD and computer came with Windows ME on
it. Some posts seem to point to that as the problem, and there is an
older driver available that will make them work.

That sounds more like the problem. It works on the new computer
because they came with XP. Mine was upgraded to XP from ME. What d
I need to do short of buying a new computer?

Reinstalling my upgrade is going nowhere.

Have you looked on the Sandisk website - 'Self Help'
https://www.customernation.com/pls/ps/ps.ps_main?p_host=304&p_supplier=5096&p_parm=PSHPP
and 'Drivers' http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx? You may
find what you need there.

The Cruzer may need a downloaded driver to work under Windows 98SE - but
it should work OK 'natively' under Me and XP, as both of those OSes detect a
new addition to the USB port as the device is plugged in.

In the case of a 'slower' port, that message suggests that your m-b USB
hardware is version 1.1 rather than the later version 2.0 ... there's no
reason why a USB device that's capable of running under 1.1. as well as 2.0
shouldn't behave properly, though, except more slowly - the USB 'speed'
warning is more of an advisory than anything else.
