I'd been really frustrated that there was no Windows driver available for
this printer. No idea if Samsung intends to provide one at some point or
not.

That said, I saw in one of these groups where another user had simply loaded
the old XP driver for a completely different Samsung printer, and it worked.

I figured, it's a test system -- what the he**. Surprisingly, IT WORKS.

Alas, this wasn't the case for my older HP flatbed scanner. So, while it
*may* work for some items, it's not universally true for everything. Any of
you who are lacking Vista drivers for anything, however -- give it a try.
Vista seems to be solid enough at this point that an incompatible driver
won't totally hose the OS -- though, YMMV.

Note that this won't work for those going from 32 to 64 bit, of course. A 64
bit OS needs 64 bit drivers.

Not sure how I managed it but I have the XP x64 driver working under Vista
RC1 64 bit.

I tried to install the driver from the Samsung website but it failed. I then
added the printer manually using the driver that the Samsung download had
installed in C:\Windows\Samsung\CLP500...

All works OK now.
