The same Trojan keeps on appearing about once an hour, is it possible to set
the program to automatically delete it with out consulting me each time?

Hi wemfish,

What is the exact name of the Trojan?

Run Ewido :

http://www.ewido.net/en/

Install Ewido.
During the installation, under "Additional Options"
uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
Launch Ewido
On the left side of the main screen click update.
Click on Start and let it update.
Then Run a Complete System Scan

Some Antivirus scanners cannot remove infections because you are online and
they are running on the system when you perform the scªn.
If you have problems with the infection returning you would be best
downloading these scanners and running them in safe mºde.

Also Panda
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
Choose to "Disinfect automatically," and follow the prompts. Delete any
viruses found, and restart your computer

I hope this post is helpful, let us know how it works ºut.

Thanks for that,
I will have a go when off line and see what happens. . .
As I have AVG, Sygate, Adaware and now Microsoft AntiSpyware on my system
so I don’t really want anything else, if I ran a full scan on each my pc
would be busy for about 8 hours, just one program that actually did the lot
would be good. . .

The item that keeps on re-appearing is “startup.nameshifter.01†I just
want the Microsoft AntiSpyware to do its job with out popping up a window to
ask me what to with an item it has dealt with many times before, there should
be a “delete this threat automatically next time†tick box, or the program
should learn from earlier experience what to do.

Wemfish - I replied in the other group that you wrote about this--you might
take a look at that reply as well--I don't disagree with Engel's advice at
all--just have another set of things to try.
