same number in the same row

Hi

can anyone tell me if it is possible to protect the row
against the same number.

in my company we have a lot of trucks. they are given a call sign.
like 4428 and 7993
i would like to protect the excel dokument so that i cannot write
examble:

4428
4428

if i write the same id in the same downwords row ther will be an error

Hi,
In 2007 you can use conditional format for unique/duplicate entries just
choose the column that you are using. It wont stop errors but will let you
know if they occur.

Chip Pearson has a way of highlighting the duplicates here:

(look for Highlighting Duplicate Entries)

And a way of preventing duplicate entries here:
http://www.cpearson.com/Excel/NoDupEntry.aspx

Be aware that data|validation is not a robust solution. It can break by using
copy|paste. But it may be sufficient if the user is typing the values.
