Today when I powered up my computer, I got a "Your new
hardware has been configured, reboot to finish" message.
I have not added any new hardware. In fact, my second
hard drive, the D drive, had decided it wanted another
drive letter, G. I rebooted, and it did not go away. I
now have the same hard drive listed as D and G. In
Computer Management, it only shows as G. I can't find
anywhere that it's mentioned as D. I can open both
icons, and I can access both from a prompt. But it's
annoying to see the drive sprout another letter. Before
I rebuilt the computer a month ago, I had hard drives
growing new letters after every reboot! CHKDSK wanted to
run at a reboot, and I let it. It cleared some errors,
but I still have two drive letters mapped. What can I do
to remove the "G" drive that doesn't exist? I tried
booting once without the drive connected, but that didn't
work.
