Here is the error I copied from the Event log:

Event Type: Error

Event Source: SAM

Event Category: None

Event ID: 12292

Date: 10/31/2003

Time: 11:55:29 AM

User: WCMAN\WINS Users

Computer: GROVER

Description:

There are two or more objects that have the same account name attribute in the SAM database. The Distinguished Name of the account is CN="WINS Users

CNF:ae359a42-3272-441b-a12c-ef96ba072fbf",CN=Users,DC=wcman,DC=com.Please contact your system administrator to have all duplicate accounts deleted, but ensure that the original account remains. For computer accounts, the most recent account should be retained. In all the other cases, the older account should be kept.

There is another error message in the event log that follows this one and it's almost exactly the same except it says the "Distinguished Name of the account is CN=WINS Users,CN=Users,DC=wcman,DC=com".

If I look in Active Directory Users and Computers there is indeed the following 2 accounts:

WINS Users

WINS UsersCNF:ae359a42-3272-441b-a12c-ef96ba072fbf

Is the 2nd account some type of corrupt account that I can delete? Am I reading this error message correctly? What should I do to get rid of this error message?

Thanks,

Chris

It appears that you had a replication collision. It is up to you to decide which object needs to be retained or deleted. If you keep the CNF object then you will need to rename it after the conflicting object has been deleted. Fore more detailed information about collisions see the article below.
