I would like to add a sales cart to our new site, the asp ones appear to be
around $800, although that is pushing my budget but looks pretty good, also
they can have verisign added to them. Any advise would be appreciated. (Our
company sells golf tours is Scotland therefore there is a very wide
variation of options subject to course ie golfcarts - some couses only,
hired cars, hotels with various room options and eating options etc etc. at
present, on our old site, we use a form that can be ticked out without a
purchase price, but this leads to a very high level of time wasters which we
are finding eating into our resources, our second site is under construction
which is the one we intend to allow people to buy online, anyone with good
suggestions can get a golf trip discount :-)

My favourite shopping cart has got to be dell, I often go there and select
the best computer available only to back out at the last minute. but when I
do buy, which has been on a few occasions for the company I always go back
there to do the final purchase, thats how I would like our site to be.

Additionally, but unrelated, I would like to learn about databases that will
enable event management wherby the visitors can add in forthcoming events /
information to the site. also things like surveys, again can anyone point me
in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for any advise or comments

Allistair

Basically, whatever cart application that you choose, will need to be
modified to meet your specific requirements, so are easier to modify than
other depending on the number of features the cart has. So unless you are
prepared to learn ASP and specific shopping cart application, plan on a
minimum of 6 months, unless you don't have anything else to do, to learn how
the application function, and how to make modifications, etc., even if you
were to hire someone, it still going to take a fair amount of time.

www.candypress.com really kicks butt ;-) It's one of the easiest to modify,
well commented and nice. I've paid hundreds of bucks for stuff that isn't
close to this (which only costs $50!!)
Not affiliated, just impressed.
