"Safe XP allows users to quickly tweak various security and privacy related
settings in XP. The options include Media Player settings, Services settings
(error reporting, time synch, remote registry etc.), as well as and option
to remove items from the Start menu, network security settings and more."

I've found it right now. Anyone is using it? Is it /safe/?

Omega (Karen S.) had quite a bit to say about how *unsafe* it was last
November. Look for "Safe XP" or "SafeXP" in the Subject.

Thanks Susan. I had forgotten it. Among those 91 messages there is even one
of mines! Ah, I'm growing old...

Today SafeXP took my attention because it was cited in this page:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/services.htm
with positive words. But I trust Karen better. :-)

Tu n'es pas seul avec ça!

.... A soft answer turneth away wrath, but leaveth unrepelled the
door-to-door religion peddler.

I have been using it for a while. All it does is "harden"
the computer, meaning it plugs certain vulnerabilities in
win*. Anything it does can be done from the contol panel,
but this is a nice gui to work with. How safe ?? anything
you do can be undone, which makes it fairly safe IMHO..

Me too. :)

I recommend apps that work well for me. I suspect that recommendation on
the MVP page is based on a similar criteria.

Karen took an in-depth look at how Safe XP works and uncovered some
potential problems that could be devastating. Karen gave us an expert
opinion. IMO that's the one to listen to.
