Hi,

Why does my sata hard drive and DVD Rw show up when I click on Safely remove
Icon. I get the following:

Safely Remove WDC WDC600AJS-00PS SCSI Disk Device - Drive (C)

Safely Remove OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7173S SCSI CdRom Device - Drive (D)

Would this pose a problem if I would click on one of these or would it
ignore it.

Why on earth would you even consider it?

There is no practical use for most folks for"Safely Remove" It is not
necessary for flash drives or memory cards and such. In fact if you use it
with them, you probably Safely Remove the reader device, not the card. Vista
translates SATA to SCSI, and so they appear. If you plan to hot swap your
hard drive, you can use it, otherwise you will shut down before removing the
drive, and it's always safe then.

Devices that are not using "delayed write" and that's everything by default,
unless you changed it, need to clear out any delayed writes before you can
remove them. You probably have no such devices.

If you ignore safely remove long enough, it will hide, and you don't have to
worry about it.

Have fun.

Many thanks for your swift response, you have put my mind at rest. I just
thought it strange seeing my internal devices (the hard drive and dvd rom
drive) shown under this icon.

Once again many thanks

Everything, by default, excluding internal hard drives, and optical
drives.
