If you are unsure if you have a USB device, just click on the icon to open
it..it may be your printer/scanner..something like that. You can't remove
it, but you can hide it by right clicking an empty spot on the
taskbar>select 'Hide Inactive Icons> then click 'customize' and from the
'current items' list click on the 'safely remove hardware option select
'always hide' from the drop down menu. Click okay, then 'apply'.
The purpose of that is to ensure that the device is properly shutdown before
unplugging a usb device..so if you wanted to unplug the device, you would
first open that by clicking on the icon, selecting the device that you want
to remove, click on the 'stop' button, then, when that process is done it's
safe to unplug the device.
