How do I get rid of the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in
my system tray. I added a DSL modem over 2 months ago and
it won't go away and I cannot delete it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... small
insignificant things annoy me... But Help is appreciated.

Thanks, Gary

I run Window XP Home Edition current with all updates.

That message is there for a reason. Not being familiar
with your hardware I cannot tell you the reason.

Is the DSL modem connected to a USB port? Do you have something else
plugged into the USB port? If you double-click on the tray icon, does it
list what devices it is monitoring (and to let you stop them before
unplugging them) or what USB devices aren't working?

You can hide it. Right-click an open area of the taskbar, click
PROPERTIES|CUSTOMIZE.
