I have a Dell PC running Windows XP Home edition.
Recently, I plugged a Belkin Brand 128MB flash drive into one of the
USB ports. After installing the proper drivers for the device, XP
displayed the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the taskbar near the
clock. (As it is supposed to do).
When I was done, I used the icon to stop, and then remove the device.
The problem is that the icon is still there. The flash drive is not
installed, but by looking at the icon, you would think it still is. If
I go into MY COMPUTER, the removeable drive is still shown (clicking
on it opens a window asking for a disk to be inserted into the drive).
If I stop the drive, the icon goes away, but comes back each time I
log-off or reboot.
I'd appreciate any insight that anyone would have in solving this.
Thanks.
