I keep telling windows to Always Show the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the
Notification Area. But it refuses. Also, I can't figure out how to find
this program anywhere else. Please help.

Open task mgr when it runs, write down the .exe for it,then go to search
in my computer, search hidden files/folders,and have show hidden files folders
in folder options chkd properly.

Check for the removable USB device attached to your system.
Do you have something like that attached to the computer?

I'm trying it but there are about 50 .exe running and and about half are
SYSTEM and there's no way to figure it out from the names since nothing is
remotely like Safely Remove Hardware.

Is there the equivalent to the quicklaunch folder for the notification area?
Maybe I could find it there.

I just plugged in my mp3 player and the icon appears. But what if I want to
remove something else such as change keyboards? Maybe I don't need to click
the Safely Remove Hardware icon in order to remove a keyboard but I'd like to
have the ability to click the icon when in doubt. But it is a mystery how to
find it.

Safely Remove Hardware only applies to removeable storage devices, not
keyboards, mice, etc. This is to prevent accidental removal of a storage
device while a file write may be pending. It is working as designed.
