Safe to install on my partial and keep XP running?

Hi,
I have two partials (C and D)
as my C drive only had 10GB space and my D 153GB space,
can i install Vista on my D Drive safely and keep my XP system on my PC
running if i want to?

Yes, no problems, just make sure you launch setup from within Windows XP,
type in your Product Key > accept EULA > when the Custom option is made
available, click it > select the partition you created for Vista > Next.

ok
well, because on the download page they say that windows XP is not for use
anymore once you install the Vista Beta and i need to re-install XP if i want
it back again..???

That is if you install Vista on the drive XP is installed, once both
operating systems are on separate paritions or drives, there is no problems,
you boot into either without problems.

I had a follow up as my situation is somewhat similar....

I had (notice past tense) my Windows XP split between C: and D:; c:
contained the OS and d: contained user documents. During the install I
selected d: as I didn't want to blow away my XP.

However, Vista renamed all the XP "Documents and Settings" to have a .old
extension. Now when I log in to XP, it complains that it can't find my
desktop directory, et al. Any options here? Can I change the path in the
registry (of the XP installation) to point to the new ".old" directories?

Or you could manually change each one back to what they were and leave the
registry alone. I mean, hasn't it suffered enough?
