Ok...I am probably doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out how to get
my AVG virus scanner to scan my computer in safe mode.
I have a Compaq Presario 5310 running Windows XP.
I know how to start the computer in safe mode, however when I click on the
AVG icon to start the scan, nothing happens.
Thanks

while your computer is rebooting, hit the F8 key, and you will then have an
option to boot to safe mode. if you see the xp startup logo, you missed it,
reboot and hit F8.

I already know how to start the computer in safe mode...
what I need to do is run my virus scanner in safe mode.
Thanks

K..did a search for "SynCor.exe" on my computer. It came up with a file in
C:\WINDOWS called "SynCor.exe". Full file name is "SynthCore.exe"
It is an analog device of some sort. I don't know enough technical jargan
to figure out what. But it has been on mycomputer since August 2003 so I
think it is part of the system.
Does anyone have any more information on it?
Thanks

~*Eternity*~ ;
Web Search brings up only spelling errors for SynCor.exe and SynthCore.exe.
Neither one is an XP file.
What do you see when you right click SynCor.exe or SynthCore.exe and select
Properties?
What prompted you to Search for SynCor.exe in the first place?

I googled SynCor.exe and this is the result:

-----------------------------------------------
When I click on Properties for SynCore.exe on my computer, I get this:
Type Of File: Application
Description: SynthCore COM Server
Location: C:\WINDOWS
Size: 372KB
Created: Thursday, September 04, 2003
Modified: Friday, August 30 , 2002 (this is odd...how can you modify a file
that was not created until a year later?)
Company: Analog Devices, Inc

The created probably means when it was loaded on you machine.
In this case I'm guesing the modified actually means when it was created.
