Once I am in safe mode I am un able to get out of it. What are the steps to
g et out of safe mode? It keeps going back into safe mode no matter what I
do.

Hi

What were you doing just before you went into Safe Mode & why did you go
into Safe Mode? If you can't get out of it, try a System Restore via Safe
Mode back to a point before the problem started.

Answering Will's questions will be important for anyone to help you out of
Safe Mode but a bit of general info:

The system will automatically default to Safe Mode if you have told it to
do so (using a setting in MSCONFIG, for example)

Or if it is unable to load normally - usually due to an inappropriate or
missing driver.

Thank you Sharon. Actually this if my friends computer and she just had
someone work on it for her. I am afraid this is what is wrong with it. This
'fix it' person may have deleted a needed driver. How would my friend go
about finding out which driver is missing?

No offense, but you're just jumping to conclusions. You can't do
effective troubleshooting in that scattershot way. If your friend's
"fixit person" was not a computer professional, s/he should take the
machine to a real computer shop. This will not be your local version of
BigStoreUSA. If the "fixit person" was a computer professional, then
your friend should take the machine back and insist that he fix it properly.

Jan, as Malke says, there's just not enough info to give an exact prognosis
on this system or to hazard a guess as to what should be done next. The
info is also coming second hand so that clouds the issues.

"Once I am in safe mode" implies that the machine does start normally. The
answers to Wes' questions might help - how are they getting to safe mode
and why are they doing that. But if there is nothing in those procedural
steps that stands out, it most likely will be necessary to find someone
qualified that can look at the machine firsthand (as Malke points out).
