Boot up regular mode>enter password and success
boot up safe mode>pasword prompt appears but whether I click admin or the pc
name the screen freezes > hard boot to get out>need to remove password>retry
and success.
Why does using a password prohibit safe mode from comleting boot up in safe
mode/??

That's odd. How long has this been going on? Are you able to identify
something specific that precipitated this?

Have you tried either System Restore or booting to Last Known Good
Configuration?

How about chkdsk?

If you create a new profile, does the behavior persist with the new
logon?

Are you certain the Safe Mode accounts are the SAME ones you used in regular
mode? Each account has its own password, and the system supplied accounts
have blank passwords by default.

This has been the case since I can remember. HOWEVER, only once, I clicked
admin, clicked on the password "hint" and was allowed to enter the same
password as I do in normal mode and it worked. There is some little issue I
can't put my finger on.

Is there a site you could recommend to resolve my posts re safe mode and
password conflict?
Thank you
