Re Safe Mode : I had my computer out for repair and when returned I was
unable to get in safe mode.
When computer is rebooting and pressing the F8 key when the screen comes up
with all the options the screen is completely locked and nothing can be
accepted. The up and down keys do not work and neither will moving the mouse
do anything the pointer will not move.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

From a practical standpoint, I would call the people who worked on your
machine and have them fix the problem at no charge. This is assuming that
you were able to get into Safe Mode before you took the computer in for
repairs.

If you are using a USB keyboard...
plug in a ps/2 type and enable legacy USB support in the bios...
the shop may have reset the bios to defaults

Thanks very much Wesley your solution worked great. I added an adapted to
the USB connector and pluged in the round jack next to the mouse connection
rebotted the computer and worked perfectly. Thanks again for taking the time
to answer and solve my problem.

Actually, Frank, my solution is to use a PS/2 type keyboard and mouse. ;-)

Glad you got it worked out.
