Can someone tell me (in basic terms) how to create a back
up for the Registry files and how could I restore them? I
tried reading the support page but I didn't really
understand it, and I don't want to screw up my system..
Thanks guys!

BACKUP

START > Run > regedit [Enter]
In Regedit app.:
File > Export > give it a name and [Save].
Make sure that Export range is set to ALL before You press [Save].

RESTORE

START > Run > regedit [Enter]
In Regedit app.:
File > Import > your_registry_backup.reg [Open]

Btw, DON'T go changing anything in the Windows registry unless You know
exactly what You are doing.

Hi

The best way to make a backup of the Registry is with a 3rd party program called ERunt:

http://home.t-online.de/home/lars.hederer/erunt/ - please read/download the accompanying documentation

If you try to use File>Export some of the Registry entries are not exported. If the Registry has been changed and then you use File>Import - the Registry can sometimes become 'confused'.

Using ERunt you will have a complete backup of the Registry in case it needs to be restored at any time. May I suggest that you use ERunt to backup the Registry fairly often. I use ERunt every 24 hours, but that is not normally necessary.

THANKS TIBBY!
