could this be a problem..

Yes, it's very liikely the problem. Windows XP is very sensitive to the RAM
you have installed. It is exactly the same as the old RAM in *all* respects
(brand, speed, etc.)? If not, that would beth efirst thing I would suspect.

You're welcome. Glad to help.

how do i resolve the problem, cheers ken..

First, I note that I misread what you wrote above. You said 1MB to 4MB. I
assume that you must have meant 1GB to 4GB Is that right?

Assuming that it is, I would begin by removing the extra3GB of RAM that you
added. Also at the same time, note whether it's exactly the same as the
original 1GB.

If that fixes the problem, the RAM you added is either defective or not
correctly matched to the original. Don't put it back.

If it doesn't fix the problem, report back here to see if anyone has other
advice for you.

You're welcome, but you had 1MB of RAM and now you have 4MB? If that's
correct, whatever you are running, it isn't Windows XP.

The 1mb-4mb "upgrade" was referring to his ISP giving customers a speed boost
for their Internet connection

Maybe so, but I've clearly been talking about a RAM upgrade all along. If
RAM wasn't what he was referring to, he's had multiple opportunties to
correct me.

thanks for your time...

At least part of your problem is that your message is extremely
difficult to understand because of the lack of proper sentence
structure, capitalization, and punctuation.

These items (sentence structure, capitalization, and punctuation) were
developed for good reasons - they help to make written communications
easier to understand.

Without them your message is unclear and subject to misinterpretation,
such as Ken Blake's apparent confusion over your "upgrade from 1 MB to
4 MB".

More specifically, what are the *exact* names of the antispyware and
other utilities that you have used in attempting to fix the problem?
There are a great number of products out there and many of these have
very similar names. In particular there are some rogue products (ones
that actually infest your system instead of cleaning it) that have
deliberately chosen names that are very similar to the names of
legitimate products. So please be clear and precise when you give
these names.

Good luck

i am sorry that my english grammer is not perfect

Perfection isn't necessary, and few of us often achive it; I know I don't.

But when you're asking for help, I strongly recommend two things:

1. Make the best effort you can at writing standard English, complete with
the best grammar and spelling you can manage, use of capitals and puctuation
as required, and avoidance of the "f u cn rd ths u cn gt a gd jb n gd py"
school of writing. If you don't, your question will be hard to read, and if
it's hard to read, it may be misunderstood, or just ignored completely.

2. Describe your situation and problem as completely and accurately as
possible. If your question is misunderstood, everyone's time is wasted,
yours as well as ours. For information on how to make a good newsgroup
posting, read http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

and appoligies
to ken for any misunderstaning

Apology accepted.

Apology accepted.

Now can we try again with the information about the problems you are
having?

Good luck
