This feature comes default "disabled" in my BIOS.

What is it exactly and does it have anything to do with performance?

My system:

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L
Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield @ 2997 MHz
Zalman 9700 CPU cooler
2GB G.SKILL PC2 6400
Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA
Seagate Barracuda 80GB SATA
