I am running a MoBo with SATA connectors but my existing drives being IDE I
have set up these for my C Drive and Slave.

Is it just a case of connecting a SATA drive to one of the connectors and
special PSU power adapters
for it to appear as another drive in Explorer.

The drive still needs to be partitioned
and formatted, just like any other drive.

And you may find that the sata ports need to be enabled
in the bios, they arent always enabled by default.

No. You also have to load your motherboard's SATA driver from the
installation disk.

Not necessarily, depends on the XP SP level and the motherboard.
