I am know considering to buy s-ata pci card for desktop and pcmcia
card bus slot for laptop

but I am wonder whether the fast performance benefit of s-ata will be
lost, cause the speed of pci slot 2.1 and pcmcia cardbus is not fast
than s-ata.
therefore, the whole speed might follow the pci and pcimcia
speed,which is slower than s-ata

There is no disk in the world that can sustain a transfer rate in excess of
the capabilities of the PCI bus. The "speed" of any interface faster than
UDMA100 is all marketing hype.

But not slower either.
therefore, the whole speed might follow the pci and pcimcia
speed, which is slower than s-ata.

When accounted for overhead it may well be enough.
